If your DG4ODBC connection to SQL Server fails with the errors:

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this
message: [Easysoft][SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] {H} ORA-02063: preceding 2
lines from MSSQL
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this
message: [Easysoft][SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] {I} ORA-02063: preceding 2
lines from MSSQL
  1. Install or upgrade to Easysoft ODBC-SQL Server Driver 1.4 or later.
  2. Follow these instructions:
    1. In your init<sid>.ora file, enable tracing by using this setting:
      HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 4
    2. Stop and start your Oracle Listener. Log in to SQLPlus and try your query again. You should get a new log file (.trc) in the $ORACLE_HOME/hs/log directory. Check the log file for these errors:
      hgocont, line 2752: calling SqlDriverConnect got sqlstate I
      hgocont, line 2752: calling SqlDriverConnect got sqlstate H

      If you do not get these errors, please contact the Easysoft support team ().

    3. If these errors are present, add the following lines to the start of your odbc.ini file:
      [ODBC]
      SQLServerUTF=yes
    4. Edit your ODBC data source to include these settings:
      DisguiseWide = yes
      DisguiseLong = yes
      DisguiseGuide = yes
      ConvtoUTF = yes
      ConvWToUTF = yes
    5. Edit your init<sid>.ora file to include this setting:
      HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME = /usr/local/easysoft/sqlserver/lib/libessqlsrv.so
    6. Stop and start the Oracle Listener.

      If you are still having problems, please email the Easysoft support team (), and send them a copy of your odbc.ini file, your init<sid>.ora file and your latest Oracle trace file.

      Otherwise, in your init<sid>.ora, disable tracing:

      HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 0

      When you restart the Oracle Listener, tracing will be disabled.
