How do I transfer an Easysoft license from one UNIX/Linux machine to another?

Please read these instructions fully before attempting to transfer an Easysoft license. Please make sure you send us the details we require in the format we require, otherwise our automated license generation system will not be able to process your request.

If you want to run Easysoft software on your old and new machine concurrently for a short transitional period, obtain a trial license for your new machine.

To transfer an Easysoft license, we need your old license key and the machine number for your new machine. If the machine on which your old license key was installed is no longer available, please contact the Easysoft Product Licensing team () and the appropriate instructions will be sent.

Obtaining the Old License Key

Your old license key is located on the machine you are transferring the license from. The key is present in the file licenses. By default, licenses is located in /usr/local/easysoft/license. If your Easysoft software was installed in a non-default location, licenses is located in $EASYSOFT_ROOT/license.

Obtaining the New Machine Number

To obtain the new machine number, run the licshell program on the new machine:

  1. cd /usr/local/easysoft/license

    Or, if your Easysoft software is not installed under the default location (/usr/local):

    cd $EASYSOFT_ROOT/license
  2. ./licshell

    Select the product you want to license from the list. The machine number is displayed. For example:

    Retrieved site information number is xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

    Your site information number is your machine number. We only require the machine number, and so you can exit the licshell program at this point by typing CTRL-C.

Sending Your Request to Easysoft

When emailing your request to , please specify "License Transfer" in the subject line.

In the email body, send your details in the following format:

New Machine Name: (This is for your reference only.)
Easysoft Product: 
New Machine Number:
Old License(s):

If you are transferring a license for more than one product, include the name and target machine number for each product. For example:

New Machine Name: (This is for your reference only.)
Easysoft Product: 
New Machine Number:
Easysoft Product:

If you are transferring license keys from multiple machines, please send multiple requests to ; one email for each machine.

Obtaining a Trial License for your New Machine

Trial licenses last for 14 days and can be obtained 24/7 on the Easysoft web site:

  1. Retrieve the machine number for the new machine, as described earlier in this article.
  2. To obtain a trial license key, go to the following Easysoft web site page (Registration required):

    http://www.easysoft.com/support/licensing/trial_license.html

    The trial license key will be sent by autolicense@easysoft.com to the email address you specified when registering on the Easysoft web site. If you use a mailbox protection service to block unwanted emails, add autolicense@easysoft.com to your email whitelist to ensure that you receive the email. Alternatively, check your junk / spam folders in your email client if you do not receive the license email.
