Oracle is Market Leader
In a recent survey by Gartner, Oracle® came out as the market leading database (by revenue) for the first time ever with almost 44% market share.
In addition the report shows that for many years there has been a battle for 2nd place in the database market stakes and in 2013 Microsoft, with its SQL Server platform, beat IBM DB2 into that spot.
The market as a whole is worth a massive $31 billion so there is a lot for the main players to fight for.
